This is a test of some of the synth parts to Van Halen’s “Jump” I recorded this a while back and decided I’d share it. Using a Roland GK-3b divided pickup on my SX Ursa 2MN 6-string bass and a Roland GI-20 MIDI interface, I was able to use the excellent and FREE OB-Xd Oberheim synth plugin. https://obxd.wordpress.com/ Using Apple’s MainStage, and a bit of magic from the Chord Trigger MIDI plugin, I was able to assign the chords of this iconic sound to notes that I could play or trigger on my MIDI bass guitar. I also added a bit of reverb and am pretty proud of how it turned out. Unfortunately, I haven’t tried it out with my band yet!
