I originally paid $267 for this in the end of 2020 and complained to the seller that it had mud in it, so they gave me a $100 refund. Ok, I’ll take that! From what I could gather, it was in a flood, because of the mud and waterlogged looking nature of it. It was cleaned up and I disassembled it a couple years ago and it’s been hanging up in my basement waiting for me to do something with it.
Well, the time has come, little Aria Pro ][ bass! I bought some truck bed liner paint and after I sanded it down a bit, sprayed a couple coats on it. Looks cool so far. A couple splotchy spots, but I may knock it back to even it out with some light sandpaper and see how it looks. I’m going for a Cliff Burton tribute bass. Of course, the headstock is different, no gold hardware, no attack mode pickup selector switch, etc.
After waiting around for a few months, I’ve finally put the pickup and electronics back in it. I’m not sure how the truck bed liner is going to go as a guitar finish. Seems kinda finicky. It always looks like there’s some kind of marks on it. Is that normal? Maybe I was hoping for it to be more of a dull, matte color. Eitherway, I knocked back the shine of the original pickup with a Scotch Brite pad and some sandpaper. The pickup screws were all faded, so I touched them up with a black furniture touch up pen. I remember seeing a YouTube video and the repair guy on the video said not to use Sharpie or other permanent markers for guitar projects, use furniture touch up pens instead.
